ABOUT KAREN
meet your celebrant
A few years ago, near the time of my retirement, I had the honor of officiating the wedding of my nephew and his fiancée. Through the planning process, I truly enjoyed learning more about their unique relationship, ideas for their ceremony and dreams for the future. After this wedding, I began to seriously consider an encore career as a wedding celebrant.
My career in college counseling and teaching instilled a passion for making a difference in others’ lives. I sought certification as a professional celebrant from the Celebrant Foundation & Institute which included learning about the art of ceremony, storytelling, themes and rituals to honor your unique relationship and backgrounds. This formal training has equipped me with wedding ceremony resources at my fingertips, which I will use to personalize your celebration. In addition to this certification, I am a registered wedding officiant in the state of Minnesota, which means I can legally perform your marriage ceremony; including the privilege of marrying same-sex couples. I focus my celebrant work in the Twin Cities area of Saint Paul and Minneapolis.
When I am not creating and performing wedding ceremonies, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, cooking, attending plays and art exhibits, traveling, gardening and reading.
I look forward to speaking with you about your special wedding ceremony plans, whether its focus is secular, spiritual, multi-cultural or interfaith.
